With half term just around the corner, let us inspire you to consider the vibrant city of Leeds as an ideal location for a fun packed family break.

Leeds is an increasingly popular choice for a family break simply because there is so much to see and do. We’ve rounded up just a few ideas of things to do with kids in Leeds to get you started in planning an action packed half term break.

With the stunning Yorkshire countryside on our doorstep, fresh air loving families will be spoiled for choice. Spanning over two miles, the York City Walls are steeped in over 2000 years of history and walking their length at your own pace is an ideal way to enjoy the incredible scenery – don’t forget a picnic, or if it’s still too chilly, there are plenty of great pub lunch spots to choose from. Junior nature lovers can also enjoy the York Bird of Prey Centre and the Nidderdale Llamas are well worth a visit too.

If your kids love farm animals, head to Meanwood Valley Urban Farm, children and parents alike will have fun at this inner-city farm, meeting the animals, enjoying the gardens and getting a real taste of the countryside. There’s a cafe on site and it’s worth checking the website before you visit to see if there are any extra seasonal events planned during your stay.

If your tastes are more exotic, Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most popular garden venues in the UK, boasting the biggest collection of tropical plants outside of Kew Gardens! The kids will probably be more excited about the birds, the terrapins, the Meerkats and all the other wonderful creatures living in the park, but there really is something for everyone.

For an indoor day out, Leeds City Museum is a perfect choice and better yet, admission is free. The museum offers a brilliant interactive and interesting outing for the whole family, there’s a huge variety of permanent exhibits such as Egyptian mummies and Roman statues, plus many other temporary exhibits that change seasonally.

Visiting Leeds with younger children? They’ll love a visit to Tumble Town Adventure Land, whilst older kids and teenagers can burn off some energy with a few games of ten pin bowling at MFA Bowl.

When it’s time to eat, Leeds has no shortage of family friendly restaurants. Ecco Pizzeria has a fantastic reputation and Cafe Rouge have a wonderful kid’s menu as well as activity packs to keep little ones busy. Of course if you prefer, you can also serve up a home cooked meal in the comfort of your apartment thanks to the fully equipped kitchen at your disposal.

Our two bedroom apartments in Leeds City Centre really are a perfect accommodation solution for family breaks in the city. We’re ideally located for all the big attractions, and close to transport links however you plan to travel.

Take a look at our guestbook and you’ll see that our reviews speak for themselves. If you’d like to check availability or make a booking, please do get in touch sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment and start planning your best half term yet!
