Wonderful Winter Theatre Breaks in Leeds

Weekend breaks in Leeds are full of fantastic possibilities. The list of things to do in Leeds is long and varied, from museums and galleries, top restaurants and bars and of course the shopping in Leeds is a draw for many fans of retail therapy too. Another reason so many people come to visit, is the variety of theatres the city has to offer – many of our guests here at Quebecs Luxury Apartments opt to make a luxurious mini break of their night out to their chosen show. With that in mind, here are a few suggestions to inspire your own winter theatre break.

Are you mad about Musicals? Gary Barlow’s new musical ‘Girls’, based on the much loved movie ‘Calendar Girls’ is on stage at the magnificent Leeds Grand Theatre until December 12th, and is already receiving rave reviews. Co-written with Tim Firth, the multi-award winning cast is led by Debbie Chazen, and also stars Sara Kestleman, Clare Machin, Claire Moore & Vivien Parry amongst many others.

Family favourite ‘Whistle Down The Wind’ comes to the Carriageworks Theatre from 26th-28th November, and is a wonderful way to get your loved ones in the mood for the festive season. Regarded as the original feel-good musical, it promises to have audiences of all ages entranced.

Speaking of festive magic, the iconic Nutcracker will be gracing the stage at Leeds Grand Theatre from December 16th. The Northern Ballet Company invite you to share in Clara’s adventures as she is swept away by her Nutcracker Prince into an enchanting winter wonderland. There will be dazzling dancing snowflakes, the famous Sugar Plum Fairy, the notorious Mouse King and much more in the ultimate festive entertainment. Performed to Tchaikovsky’s enduring score, played live by Northern Ballet Sinfonia, David Nixon OBE’s The Nutcracker promises to awaken childlike imagination in us all.

From the 2nd of December, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang comes to the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds. Telling the story of a failing inventor who rescues a rotting car which turns out to have magic powers, the stage version of this much loved classic film has received high praise and tickets should be booked now to avoid disappointment.

And of course no countdown to Christmas would be complete without a dose of Pantomime! Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood promises a rock’n’roll twist on the tradition and fun for the whole family at the City Varieties Music Hall from November 27th. Tickets are on sale now.
