Dates for your diary: What’s on in Leeds in August

With summer in full swing, there’s never been a better time to book some top quality Leeds accommodation and enjoy a weekend (or more!) in one of the UK’s liveliest cities. As ever, there’s plenty to keep you busy, whatever your taste, here are a few of our top picks for things to do in Leeds next month:

1st – 30th August – Witness for the prosecution at Leeds Civic Hall

Fans of courtroom dramas will love this unique, in-the-round theatre experience. Penned by Agatha Christie, this production of Witness for the Prosecution marks the 125th anniversary of her birth, by presenting her most celebrated courtroom drama in a thrillingly new and memorable way.

25th – 29th August – The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at Leeds Grand Theatre

Having already won seven 2013 Olivier Awards and received a multitude of fantastic reviews, this highly- acclaimed National Theatre production is finally embarking on its first ever nationwide tour. It comes to Leeds in August and promises to be a very special treat for theatre and literature lovers alike.

30th August – Freddie Flintoff – 2nd Innings – Leeds Grand Theatre

Much loved hero of the historic 2005 victorious Ashes England team, Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff is touring the country to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of that momentous victory and share some behind the crease insights to the game too. Freddie will be joined on stage by comedy writer and producer, Clyde Holcroft, his podcast partner in crime – the show is unscripted, unedited, unguarded and unleashed – sounds like one not to be missed!

28th – 30th August – Leeds Festival at Bramham Park

This event gets bigger and better every year and 2015 doesn’t look like it’s going to disappoint! With The Libertines, Mumford & Sons, Royal Blood, Metallica and many more fantastic acts lined up, there really is something for everyone. If you’re counting down the days to this year’s Leeds Festival, but starting to dread the thought of pitching tents and sharing facilities, why not do it in style instead and book yourself into the best place to stay in Leeds instead – hot running water, a comfortable bed and within easy reach of the main stage!
